Consumer Groups Oppose Retroactive Waiver Request by SGS North America Inc.
In comments filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), CFA and other consumer groups oppose the requests made by SGS North America Inc. (SGS) in its petition to the FCC including retroactive relief from liability for telemarketing activity that violates the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. If the FCC were to entertain a retroactive waiver in a case such as this, that would open wide the doors to an astonishing escalation in unwanted, unconsented-to, telemarketing calls to the American public.
