Insurance

Insurance is a critical tool for consumer financial security and community resilience, and Americans spend hundreds of billions of dollars every year on auto, homeowners, and life insurance coverage. Because this product is often required – by state law or lender mandates – insurance companies have extraordinary leverage and power in the marketplace, which makes oversight and regulation of this industry essential. But many state insurance departments that regulate these insurers have neither the resources nor the will to do so adequately. CFA works to improve insurance regulation, strengthen consumer protections, and ensure that insurance is affordable and available to all who need it.
