Consumer Groups Oppose DOE's Proposed Changes to Energy Efficiency Standards Setting Process
CFA joins advocates in additional comments in response to the Department of Energy’s Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (SNOPR). The groups expressed strong opposition to the Department’s proposed changes to the decision making process by which energy efficiency standards are set. They cited that the proposed changes would violate the law, likely result in lost energy savings, likely result in selecting standards that are not at the maximum level for what would be technologically feasible and economically justified, and make it more difficult for DOE to carry out its obligation to review standards.
