CFA Urges DOE to Enact More Energy Efficient Standards for Clothes Washers

Consumer Federation of America submitted comments to the Department of Energy in response to a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking regarding clothes washers. Highlighting the consumer support for greater efficiency for clothes washers, which will save billions of dollars in energy bills and eliminate millions of tons of climate-harming emissions, we urged the Department to promptly finalize standards for clothes washers. Consumers, and particularly low-income consumers, should no longer be subject to higher electric bills because out-of-date, less efficient technologies continue to be made available in the marketplace.
