Letter in Opposition to Rulemaking to Amend the SEC’s Cybersecurity Risk Management, Strategy, Governance, and Incident Disclosure Rule

The Consumer Federation of America joined Consumer Reports, the Secure Resilient Future Foundation, and the Electronic Privacy Information Center in writing a letter to Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Vanessa Countryman, to oppose any rulemaking to amend the SEC’s Cybersecurity Risk Management, Strategy, Governance, and Incident Disclosure rule.

After only 18 months in effect, disclosure is providing relevant information to investors and helping promote transparency about the security posture of publicly traded firms. This critical information empowers investors to make informed decisions, and enables public- and private sector monitors to track the widespread incidence of cyber attacks.
