Groups Tell FTC Not to Scrap Care Labeling Rule
CFA joined several other groups in comments to the Federal Trade Commission opposing its proposal to repeal the trade regulation rule on care labeling of textile wearing apparel and certain piece goods. The groups contended that that nothing in the record developed since 2011 as part of the agency’s regulatory review supports repealing the rule, and doing so would significantly shift risk and responsibility from manufacturers to consumers. Consumers should have the right to be informed about how to care for their garments in order to use them for as long as they would reasonably expect, and not have to rely on manufacturers to voluntarily provide this important information.
