CFA Supports New Mexico Algorithmic Discrimination Bill
CFA Director of AI & Privacy, Ben Winters, testified in support of New Mexico's House Bill 60 on Monday, advocating for much-needed AI regulation. HB 60 aims to ensure accountability in AI systems, addressing widespread discrimination in automated decision-making, from housing and hiring to credit rates and healthcare. CFA highlighted the negative impacts of algorithmic bias, citing studies showing racial and gender discrimination in key areas. With overwhelming public concern over data privacy and AI misuse, CFA praised HB 60 for offering a balanced approach to tackling these issues and protecting consumers.
