CFA Supports House Bills to Strengthen Investor Protections
CFA wrote to members of the House Financial Services Committee in support of several pro-investor bills scheduled for discussion in conjunction with the Committee’s October 5, 2021, oversight hearing with Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler. CFA expressed support for the following bills:
- To amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 with respect to the Office of the Investor Advocate, and for other purposes.
- Empowering States to Protect Seniors from Bad Actors Act
- To prohibit registered investment advisers, brokers, and registered representatives of brokers from facilitating the transaction of or recommending the securities of certain special purpose acquisition companies, and for other purposes.
- Investor Choice Act of 2021
- The Investor Justice Act
- To amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to improve the governance of multi-class stock companies, to require issuers to make annual diversity disclosures, and for other purposes
- Whistleblower Protection Reform Act
