New Jersey Auto Insurance Premium Comparisons By City

Consumer Federation of America recently acquired data that shows auto insurers unfairly discriminate against New Jersey consumers based on their credit scores and in which zip code they live.

In West Orange (zip code 07052), consumers pay an average annual premium of $978.95 if they have excellent credit, $1,621.05 if they have fair credit, and $2,540.35 if they have poor credit. Overall average premium is $1,713.45.

In Newark (zip code 07106), consumers pay an average annual premium of $1,238.45 if they have excellent credit, $2,120.25 if they have fair credit, and $3,376.95 if they have poor credit. Overall average premium is $2,245.22.

In Princeton (zip code 08542), consumers pay an average annual premium of $754.25 if they have excellent credit, $1,200.30 if they have fair credit, and $1,832.55 if they have poor credit. Overall average premium is $1,262.37.

And in Trenton (zip code 08618), consumers pay an average annual premium of $1,090.35 if they have excellent credit, $1,851.60 if they have fair credit, and $2,957.30 if they have poor credit. Overall average premium is $1,966.42.
