CFA National Food Policy Conference to be held April 22-23 in Washington DC

Washington, D.C. – Leading experts in food, agriculture and nutrition policy will gather April 22-23 at the Omni Shoreham hotel in Washington, DC for the 37th Annual National Food Policy Conference. The annual event explores timely food policy issues facing consumers, the food industry and government.

Scheduled to appear at the Conference are: U.S. Representative Jim McGovern; Kevin Concannon, Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services at the U.S. Department of Agriculture; Sam Kass, Executive Director of Let’s Move! and Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition Policy at the White House; and Jay Campbell, Vice President of Hart Research Associates.

Speakers and panelists will discuss a variety of key food policy issues. From the challenges facing the global food supply down to the local food movement’s effect on national policy, the schedule offers a variety of sessions.  Other panels include discussion on the changing landscape of the Farm Bill, the future of SNAP, the Millennials’ impact on grocery offerings, meat and poultry safety, revisions to the nutrition facts label, the safety of imported seafood and much more.

For 37 years, the National Food Policy Conference has been a Washington institution and a unique collaboration between consumer advocates, the food industry and government.
